DCAM-API for Active Silicon FireBird Phoenix is a software module from Hamamatsu Photonics K.K. that bridges the Hamamatsu DCAM-API camera SDK with Active Silicon’s FireBird and Phoenix frame grabbers. It lets developers control Hamamatsu scientific cameras and acquire images through a unified DCAM interface while using the high-performance CoaXPress or Camera Link connectivity provided by FireBird and Phoenix boards. The package integrates with Active Silicon’s driver stack to deliver high-throughput, low-latency transfer and reliable synchronization, while preserving access to DCAM camera functions such as exposure, gain, ROI, binning, and metadata.

Key features:

  • Single, DCAM-API-based programming model for use with FireBird and Phoenix frame grabbers
  • Support for CoaXPress and Camera Link (model-dependent)
  • High-speed DMA image acquisition with ring buffers and timestamping
  • Hardware triggering, strobe, and I/O control passthrough where supported
  • Multi-camera and multi-stream acquisition on compatible hardware
  • 64-bit Windows support with C API, documentation, and sample code
  • Diagnostics and logging to aid setup and integration

Typical uses include high-speed and fluorescence microscopy, machine vision, inspection, and automated imaging.

Requirements: a compatible Hamamatsu camera, an Active Silicon FireBird or Phoenix frame grabber with current drivers/firmware, the DCAM-API runtime, and a supported 64-bit Windows operating system. Feature availability may vary by camera, frame grabber model, and driver version.
